|F-TROOP GOLF CLUB AT MANSION RIDGE
I have taken a few days to kick around the events at J. Paul's after our final
round of the season, I did not want to put a knee jerk reaction up here.
As I have stated I do the best job I know how to try to make this club
enjoyable for everyone, from just being able to get out and play, to the
varied styles of play and competitions (including the colored ball).
One thought I had was maybe the colored ball is a bad thing, I for one won't
lose my mind over a couple of hundred, but thats me, it is done for the FUN
OF IT. Many of us have stories, not about how we won, but how a ball got
lost, or the efforts to find or retrieve a ball, the laughs are, in my opinion,
worth way more then the cash.
Now on to the idea of questioning an outcome, every member of this club
has the right to ask about an outcome, I have never had a problem with that.
However there are ways to do it, and asking 4 times, questioning opponents
about their handicaps, and snide comments by guests is not the way.
The rules for every event are posted right here, the colored ball has been run
the exact same way, every single time, sure there are some moans and
groans, but nothing like what happened Monday.
This having all been said, I will not take away competitions that so many
enjoy do to the actions of a few, however I will also not be insulted,
especially when it comes from guests, that crosses the line. ( I have
consulted a few long standing members of this club on how to deal with
Monday's situation, and it will be addressed.)
So it should be remembered that guests are a privilege, not a right, and you
and you alone, as a member are responsible for the behavior of your guests.
I will be bringing back a rule I used years ago, that kind of faded away,
starting next year, if you win a close to pin, then you are done winning close
to pins for the remainder of the year (the exception as always was Montauk).
The same rule will apply to the long drive contest, bringing this back will
"spread the wealth" and give a few more players a chance to win. As
always we wipe the slate clean at Montauk, due to the value of the prizes.
So to wrap it up, I do feel it was a very successful season, we got all the
rounds in, the weather this year may just have been the best we ever had,
new champions were crowned, our Net reps made it to the next round and I
didn't have to suspend Serrao, so practice when you can, I will keep posting
videos on the rules, especially with the changes that the USGA say are on
the horizon, and I wish everyone a happy and healthy winter!
|THE FINAL MOST IMPROVED STANDINGS ARE LISTED.
REMEMBER THEY ARE RANDOM AND THE WINNER WILL BE
ANNOUNCED AT THE CLUB MEETING IN THE SPRING!
I HOPE TO BE ABLE TO GIVE EVERYONE A NEW HANDICAP CARD
AT THE MEETING, SEE YOU THEN!
